The Arizona Cardinals ended the 2017 season with a victory against the Seahawks. While the front office is busy with finding a new head coach, general manager Steve Keim will be focusing on free agency. The Cardinals have 19 pending unrestricted free agents awaiting the new league year in March. That is in addition to one restricted free agent and eight exclusive rights free agents.
What are the differences between the free agent classifications? An unrestricted free agent is free to sign with any team who comes calling. Unlike an unrestricted free agent who can either re-sign with their current team or test the open market and go elsewhere, restricted free agents are tied down unless a team allows them to become an unrestricted free agent. Exclusive rights free agents is a player with only one or two accrued seasons who can be tendered a contract. Unlike restricted free agents, ERFAs are not able to negotiate with other teams. Instead their rights belong exclusively to the team that applied the tender. Below is a list of the Cardinals free agents.
