2018 Titans Draft Profile
Name: Harold Landry
Position: DE/OLB
School: Boston College
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 250 pounds
Projected: Rounds 1-2
Harold Landry has a first-round skill set and can be an asset right away to the team that gets him in the draft. He has a basket full of ways to get to and disrupt the opponents passing game. We are projecting him as a mid to late first rounder. If there was one thing that looked cobbled together for the Titans this past year it was the pass rush. Tennessee got good pressure on the quarterback but didn’t have “That guy” that you have to account for on every pass play. Landry could be that type of player.
Strength
Landry has the strength to push offensive tackles back into the quarterback. In this play against Clemson wasn’t able to get the sack but the pressure applied and contact with the quarterback led to an interception. At the professional level, Landry might be a pass rush specialist as he learns the system and adjusts to the speed of the game.
Speed
Speed kills. He also possesses that quick first step that is so coveted in edge rushers at the NFL level. The burst of the line is what can make Landry a defensive disruption. In this play against Wake Forrest, he beats the right tackle with sheer speed and registers a sack.
Assignment Football
Landry has the physical gifts to be an every-down defensive end and/or outside linebacker in the Titans current 3-4 scheme. When breaking the film down there were a few instances where his speed and aggressiveness to the ball got him in trouble. Here is an example against Notre Dame where he didn’t set the edge and got caught inside. In all fairness, there may have been a game/stunt going on with the defensive tackle here but I saw it more than once. Teams attacked Landry in two ways. Either they ran right at him or used miss-direction plays to try and get him to use his quickness and over-pursue.
Outlook
If Harold Landry is selected by the Titans they get an edge rusher that will be a headache for defensive coordinators for years to come. He would be a welcome addition to the Tennessee family.
