The NFL Draft is only two weeks away, and the Colts plans are a bit of mystery. Will they stay put, will they go playmakers and high risk, or will the go safe and steady. With a bevy of needs at multiple positions, no one really knows what the Colts will do, but here I take a shot at four possibilities at each of the Colts first four picks. Each day you will get four options at each pick, there is one rule, no trades, the FPC Colts team will have and have already put out plenty of articles with trades involved, but here it will be if the Colts stayed put.
Here is the third part of our Colts four by four draft special, since the Colts have back to back picks here I decided to choose four players not mentioned in the previous section. Once again, these can be a first round talented player who can be Pro-bowl caliber players early on.
37th Overall
-
Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama
Once again another linebacker, seeing a trend? Evans was the leader of the BCS champion Crimson Tide and is a perfect fit at Mike linebacker for the Colts. Evans has the ability to fly to the boundaries like Smith and has the blitzing capability and size with the athletic ability like a Malik Jefferson.
-
Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn
Davis could give the Colts a pretty talented cornerback room with Wilson, Desir, and Hairston. The big physical corner has drawn comparisons to Richard Sherman, making him a perfect fit for what Chris Ballard wants in a defensive back.
-
Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise St
The Boise State product has garnered some first-round considerations, even top 15, late in the draft process, as the 6’4” linebacker shows exceptional athletic ability and refinement at his size. However, sometimes these type of talented players drop for runs at other positions (see Malik Hooker), so the Colts could jump at the chance to draft him early day two.
-
Sam Hubbard EDGE Ohio St.
If the Colts don’t take Chubb early on, they will still take a pass rusher at some point in the draft. Hubbard is another big end with more technique than athleticism and will be able to produce on all three downs early.
