To round out the 2018 draft class, the Chicago Bears select wide receiver Javon Wims out of Georgia with the 224th pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The second wide receiver to find a Bears jersey in this draft, Wims has great size, standing at six foot three, and respectable ball skills. He catches almost everything his way, often times not even needing to see the ball to catch it. He has put together quite the highlight reel with his impressive catches over his career.
He does struggle in press coverage despite his size and he lacks top-end speed and smooth route running. Getting open will be an issue in the NFL because of his reliance on his sizable frame but his ball skills do give him fourth or fifth wide receiver potential.
This draft has revolved around Trubisky and putting the best around him for him to succeed and this pick will round out quite the offensive personnel for Trubisky. His ball skills and size with little YAC potential give him solid red zone value. Wims is a decent seventh-rounder who can contribute on special teams until he learns how to get open against NFL defenses.
