The Patriots came into Day Three of the 2018 NFL Draft with a 4th, 5th, two 6ths, and a 7th rounder. I predicted that they would make trades, which isn’t exactly going out on a limb considering the Patriots have made six trades this weekend and only three picks. Fans are probably wondering why, and the answer is pretty simple.
A. They are not big fans of this draft.
B. If they have a chance to acquire strong picks the following year, it’s a no-brainer.
With the added picks in 2019, New England will have the ability to go get the franchise quarterback they will eventually need. Patriots fans should also be excited about the fact that the roster is strong, so a lot of these players would be a downgrade. Why pick a guy to replace someone who is better than him? It makes no sense, and that is not how New England does business.
Belichick and Caserio are not rookies, they know what they are doing. Sit tight and let them do their thing, because they are building another wagon that could make another Super Bowl run.
