Changing of the (Left) Guard
Rookie mini-camp has broken and Washington has a full 90-man preseason roster. There is a sense, at this point, that the Redskins are looking to fill only a handful of roster slots and who will be on the practice squad.
In addition to the signings of the undrafted rookies, the Redskins added a familiar face to their roster. Shawn Lauvao re-signed and it could not have been better timing. Arie Kouandjio has allegedly torn his quadriceps, and if confirmed by the second opinion, he will be out for 2018. Lauvao may be the weak point once again on the offensive line, but there is still a lot of offseason left to pull off a trade or sign another veteran once roster cuts begin.
In this mock roster, Phil Taylor, Sr. has been replaced him with Safety Fish Smithson. Smithson saw some time on the Redskins roster at the end of the 2017 season and could add more depth on special teams. In addition, Orlando Scandrick has been removed from the starting role and replaced him with Quinton Dunbar.
