Out of every rookie that was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2018, there might only be one that has definite starter status. Assuming he stays healthy and keeps proving himself in training camp, Edmunds will be the youngest starter for the Bills as well as be the potential leader of the defense.
It’s still shocking that the Bills were able to grab Edmunds at #16 in the draft. If Edmunds pans out and shows what he’s worth, he’ll definitely show that it was worth trading up for him. Projected to be a top ten draft pick, Edmunds has the high ceiling to put himself as not only a steal but possibly defensive rookie of the year.
Edmunds is coming into this season and will face some serious competition. Whether it’s opposing running backs or quarterbacks, Edmunds can improve his game and grow as a potential star. Some of the top quarterbacks he’ll stare out across from the line of scrimmage include:
- Tom Brady
- Kirk Cousins
- Andrew Luck
- Matthew Stafford
- Aaron Rodgers
- Deshaun Watson
- Phillip Rivers
As a 20 year old rookie, Edmunds not only can lead a Bills defensive squad, but will have the opportunity to make plays off of these experienced and talented QB’s.

A big factor that is expected of Edmunds is contributing to the run game, a stat that was horrific for the Bills last season. At Virginia Tech, Edmunds was a major run stopper and it will hopefully show in the pros as well. Besides looking to dominate in the passing game, Edmunds will look to stop these top talented running backs in 2018:
- Melvin Gordon
- Dalvin Cook
- Derrick Henry
- Leonard Fournette
- Sony Michel
Coming off a horrendous run defensive year, the Bills are looking to avoid any time of punishment they went through last season, and Edmunds should be a major contributor.
The Bills are looking to improve from last season on defense. While it starts in the trenches, the Bills seem to have their starting linebacker for the future and should hopefully keep him for quite sometime. For 2018, expect Edmunds to live up to the expectations that are put on him.
Season Projections: 95 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles
