As apart of the greatest ring chase the NBA has ever seen, Pelicans superstar DeMarcus Cousins has accepted an MLE 1 year, 5.3 million dollar deal with the reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors. Coming off a season of averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in his first full season as a Pelican before going down with an Achilles injury that ended his season, he sits as a top two center in the NBA and barring injury, the Warriors appear to have put together the most talented roster in NBA history.
Spending most of his career on a hapless Kings team and never even coming close to a playoff berth, Sacramento mercifully traded him for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and picks. Anthony Davis and he were destined to wreak havoc in the paint but this never came to fruition, after only appearing in 65 total games with the Pelicans due to injury.
As a four-time All-Star and a two time All-NBA second team member, Cousins will be yet another superstar added to the long list of superstar the Warriors currently boast. Having four of their five projected starters appearing on an All-NBA team and a combined 25 All-Star games between them all, the Warriors appear to have the Finals completely locked down until Father Time creeps in or until they simply get bored. Though he won’t appear until January or December due to the Achilles, there isn’t much rush for a team coming off three Finals wins in the past four years.
