Leonard Fournette came into the NFL at around 235 pounds. He ended up running the top two fastest plays in the NFL last season. Yes, you read that right. In miles per hour, Fournette ran the fastest at one point in time than anybody else did in the entire NFL season. That includes the likes of Tyreek Hill, John Ross, Corey Grant, Patrick Peterson, and all the other speedsters in the league. The fact that he has lost weight will only make him faster. Imagine that. One of the strongest running backs in the NFL and the fastest in-game runner in the league is getting faster. Also, the Jaguars added All-Pro Guard Andrew Norwell to what was already the best rushing attack in the 2018 NFL season. The Jaguars offense is going to be an absolute force to be reckoned with this upcoming season.
Now for the additions that will impact the passing game. With Fournette attracting attention to himself, this opens opportunities for Blake Bortles and the receiving weapons the Jaguars have. With the addition of Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who will ultimately replace long tenured former Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis, the Jaguars goal line offense should be much more versatile. It will not just be a case of; “give the ball to Fournette 3 times and if that does not work let Lambo get us 3 points.” This also will allow Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to get creative and make more of his signature trick plays that we all know he loves to create. Nevertheless, Blake Bortles will have less people in coverage aiming to stop him. Which will make Blake Bortles have many more wide open targets than ever before. Blake Bortles is in the perfect situation to be in to succeed as the franchise quarterback for the Jaguars this year and for the foreseeable future.
Of course, the Jaguars have many doubters. Most of which refer to Blake Bortles as the reason why the Jaguars will never make it to the Super Bowl. However, it was Blake Bortles who got the Jaguars to the AFC Championship game last season. Without Bortles’ heroics, it would have been hard for the Jaguars to keep the Steelers from coming back to win the game in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Blake Bortles deserves more credit.
This Jaguars team is as dangerous as anybody has ever seen. It is Super Bowl or bust for the Jaguars this year and the sky truly is the limit for this year’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
