Josh Gordon is back with the Cleveland Browns. The wide receiver attended practice at the team’s training facility in Berea Sunday afternoon. Gordon is still not cleared to practice. However he is permitted to do work on the side including riding an exercise bike.

Practicing or not, what is important is that number twelve is back wearing his Browns uniform and a part of the process in 2018.

“It was good. First day back with his teammates. I think that it was good.” Head coach Hue Jackson also stated, “I think that he is excited. I am sure that the players are, but we have to practice better than that.”

Gordon’s teammates are also excited to see him back in the building and a part of the plan going forward. Once Gordon is cleared to participate, he and Jarvis Landry will create a tough one, two punch for opposite cornerbacks to defend.

“He is a proven receiver in this league. Obviously, he is a playmaker,” Landry said. “He is a guy who is going to give us the ability to do a lot of things. I know that we are excited about that.”

“It is lovely him being back. He adds another vet to the room and another coach for us,” Damion Ratley said. “Just having him back, it stops the outside atmosphere of, ‘When is Josh coming back?’ He is back now, and he is ready to play. Getting him out there is going to be fun. Get to learn from another guy besides Jarvis now. It is good having him back.”

Getting clearance to practice from the league is the only thing the Browns are waiting for Even if that happens in the coming days, don’t expect Gordon to play in preseason game number three Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I am sure the league probably has to say something,” Jackson said. “What is most important for me, I know I want to see him in meetings and see what kind of shape he is in before I ever make a decision about trotting him out there.”

Practice time is important for Gordon. He has missed all of training camp up till now due to some health and family matters. Gordon is playing for a new offensive coordinator in Todd Haley. How much of the offense has Gordon picked up despite not practicing since mini camp in June?

“He retained it, yes. Josh is very intelligent. He sat in meetings today,” Jackson said. “I am sure there was some carryover from that. Being on the field, bouncing things off of (wide receivers) Coach (Adam) Henry and the rest of his teammates, some of that stuff will come back pretty quickly. I think the most important thing is let’s get him back in our building, let’s make sure everything is working great away from football, let’s make sure he gets in great shape and then let’s put him out there and go from there.”
