After a close loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past Monday, the Colts host the Jimmy G led 49ers to hopefully improve on their 1-1 record. This week will be centered around franchise quarterback Andrew Luck for good reason considering the doubt he got after one bad preseason game. So let’s just dive on in this fine Saturday morning!
Last week we saw Andrew Luck get hit by star veteran Terrell Suggs and pop back up right away. Later Luck said that he was happy he got hit like he did, falling in his elbow of the previously injured arm. It’s a great thing to see the franchise quarterback coming off an injury pop back up but it will be good to pay attention as to who gets knocked down and gets back up right away. I don’t know about you, but seeing a player get laid out or get tackled and jump up ready for the next play gives a certain level of excitement and energy.

Injuries are something that ruins seasons, that being said, Colts rookies Tyquan Lewis and Kemoko Turay have not played an NFL snap heading into the third week of the preseason. After the game vs the Ravens, cornerbacks Quincy Wilson and Nate Hairston are day-to-day with a hand and hamstring injury respectively (editor’s note: neither will play). The Colts are already underdogs and they do not need any key players to be injured for multiple weeks so if there is any players that hesitate when getting knocked down that could be a big concern for this season.
Lastly what we need to watch as fans is how Luck will play against a top tier cornerback like Richard Sherman who came from the Seahawks this past offseason. How Luck will deal with elite players covering his above average receivers will be a great thing to watch as we will all see how Luck can exploit a great corner with good receivers. Luck’s touchdown to interception ratio is zero touchdowns and one interception when he faced sub-par corners, it will be extremely interesting to see how he does in from of the hometown crowd vs the 49er defense.
