Welcome to the 2018 NFL (Pre)-season Colts fans! The wait is over, and the FPC Colts team are now resuming our weekly game week articles. Here we will look into three critical stats heading into Colts matchup, which will help give a better picture of what to expect and some storylines heading into the game. The Colts finish up the preseason against the Cincinnati Bengals.
This is how many players teams will cut after this Thursday’s preseason games. A grand total of 1184 players will either be on practice squads or entirely out of a job come week one, so pay attention to some of the Colts players who may be on the bubble of that final 53.
How many days until the Colts open up their season against this same Bengal in Indy on opening day. Even though most of the starters for both teams will not see the field, it will be interesting to see how each teams coaching staff hides their plans for the regular season while still evaluating their players in the game.
This stat may not necessarily have to do with this Thursday’s preseason game, but I felt it needed to be addressed. ESPN top 100 NFL players for 2018 did not include one Colts players and were also left out the top ten snubs from said list. The two most deserving Indy players left off the list, Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton, were not even ranked within the top 15 at their position, a gross oversight.
The 2018 regular season is finally at the doorstep, and the Colts still have a lot of question marks to be answered. Even though for many on the squad this is their last chance to make a statement, the real goal this Thursday is to walk out as healthy as possible, the Colts have had injury issues in the past, so a clean bill of health is the best case scenario.
