FIRST QUARTER

15:00- The Patriots offense starts with the ball and a nine-yard gain to Gronk. 2nd & 1…

14:30- Two-yard gain by Burkhead, 1st & 10…

13:43- Burkhead for two more, 2nd & 8…

13:05- Hollister wide-open in the flat for a gain of 23. He’s a playmaker.

12:30- Gronk held like crazy, but the refs let it happen. 2nd & 10…

12:20- Burkhead runs for a gain of three, 3rd & 7…

11:43- The Jags pressure forces Brady into a throw he didn’t want to make; Gostkowski attempted a 54-yard field goal, and it wasn’t even close. When I say it wasn’t close, it looked like me trying to hit a golf ball. SLICE!! Bad ending to what looked like a promising drive.

11:09- Yeldon runs for four, 2nd & 6…

10:45- Bortles with a nice play to avoid a sack and throw for a 1st down…1st & 10..

9:50- The Patriots force a fumble but the ball bounces directly to the Jags, who gain 11…not good. 1st & 10, Jags, from the Patriots 15…

8:57- Yeldon gains three more, 2nd & 7…

7:46- Touchdown, Jaguars. Sorry for the late updates, we are having some technical difficulties over here. Trey Flowers is out with a possible concussion, a huge loss for the Patriots defense. Jaguars 7, Patriots 0

6:37- Michel looked like he had a 1st down on 3rd & 1, but he was tripped up and the Patriots are forced to punt.

5:32- After  a gain of four through the air, the Jags face 2nd & 6…

5:25- Incomplete pass, 3rd & 6…

5:14- The Patriots lose contain on Bortles, and he easily runs for a gain of seven, enough for a 1st down. The Jags were called for jumping offsides on 1st down, so it is now 1st & 15…

4:19- Cole just made the most amazing catch maybe ever; that was absolutely ridiculous. 1st & 10, Jags…

3:32- Grant catches it out in the flat and spins his way to another 11 yards; 1st & 10…

2:17- 17 more, this time to O’Shaunessy, a player the Patriots cut last season.

2:11- Touchdown, Jaguars. Cole with a second catch on this drive, this one for the touchdown. Ugly start, and when you are facing a defense like this, it can be awfully hard to comeback. Jaguars 14, Patriots 0

2:10- Brady and the Patriots offense need to put together a drive right now.

2:03- Michel runs for a gain of three; he definitely looks shifty. 2nd & 7…

1:32- Michel drops an easy one, and now the Patriots are already facing 3rd & 7…

1:25- White makes the catch and gains 12, a much needed 1st down. New England needs some type of score, touchdown or field goal…

:51- Michel runs for a gain of five; 2nd & 5…

:07- Run is called on 3rd & 5, which is OK if you give it to a guy that doesn’t go down on initial contact every time. I love James White, but you run that with Michel. The Patriots will be forced to punt. The quarter runs out, a quarter dominated by the host Jaguars. Jacksonville 14, New England 0

SECOND QUARTER

15:00- Horrible run defense on first down leads to 13-yard run by Yeldon; it doesn’t get any worse than that. Wow. 1st & 10…

14:08- Same thing- gross effort, not doing their jobs, wide open holes because guys aren’t fighting through blocks; this is hard to watch.

12:46- The run defense finally is stepping up a little, and after two good plays, it is now 3rd & 7…

12:15- Looked like a 1st down by the Jags, but they were called for illegal hands to the face. 3rd & 17…

11:53- Moncrief picks up 10, but that isn’t enough, and the Jags are forced to punt. After those two run plays, I was concerned they quit. Good punt, and the Patriots offense will be forced to work their way from their own six. 1st & 10, Patriots…

11:00- Gain of six by Dorsett, 2nd & 4…

9:44- After a gain of three and a timeout, the Patriots face 3rd & 1…

9:32- Brady sneaks for the 1st, but he got drilled on that run.

8:51- Patterson runs a counter for five yards; interesting play design. 1st & 10…

8:08- Gronk picks up seven and a 1st down; good job by Brady being patient. 1st & 10…

7:29- Dorsett picks up 14 through the air; 1st & 10, Patriots…

6:54- Michel gains four, another strong run; 2nd & 6…

6:19- White picks up 11 more through the air, and this is the best the offense has looked today. 1st & 10…

5:40- White runs for a gain of two, 2nd & 8…

4:55- James White picks up 10 on the hitch route outside, and the Patriots pick up another 1st down.

4:19- White runs for five more, 2nd & 5…

4:05- Gain of seven through the air, this time to Hogan, and Tevin Smith hit him with a lowered helmet, which will add 15 more to the play. 1st & 10 from the Jaguars 11…

3:33- Incomplete pass to Dorsett; looked like a throwaway, 2nd & 10…

3:23- Not the best play to call in that scenario; 3rd & 9….

2:49- Not. Even. Close. Brady throws it to Patterson, who made the catch…two yards out of bounds in the end zone. Thankfully Gostkowski hit the field goal; Jaguars 14, Patriots 3

**I just found out that Vontae Davis retired at halftime today. That might be the best “I’m done” stories ever. OK, back to the game.

2:24- 1st down catch on the 1st play of the series; 1st & 10…

2:00- Incomplete pass on 1st down, 2nd & 10…

1:47- Sefarian-Jenkins picks up 11 more, 1st & 10…

1:28- Good job breaking up the pass, 2nd & 10; the Patriots need a stop badly.

1:17- Gain of 17 through the air; the Patriots defense is having a rough half. 1st & 10…

:54- Gain of 14 more, and the Jaguars are threatening again.

:48- Incomplete pass, and that was caused by good pressure. 2nd & 10 from the Patriots 23…

:42- Apparently the Patriots have NO CLUE how to stop crossing routes; this is disgusting. Same route, over and over. 1st & 10, Jags…again.

:25- Gain of seven by Yeldon to make it 2nd & 7 from the Patriots five; don’t forget, the Jaguars also receive the ball to start the second half. Jaguars 14, Patriots 3

:18- Incomplete pass on the fade; good defense by Jones; 3rd & 3…

:09- Touchdown, Jaguars. Sefarian-Jenkins was WIDE OPEN after Chung blew coverage on the play. New England is in big trouble today. Jaguars 21, Patriots 3

:00- We have reached the half, and that was not fun to watch as a Patriots fan. Jaguars 21, Patriots 3

HALFTIME

15:00- Six yard gain on 1st down, 2nd & 4, Jaguars…

14:06- Another completed pass, and another 1st down. This is UUUUUgly.

13:18- Two consecutive good plays, we have progress. 3rd & 10…

12:38- Rowe is getting beat like a drum; another 1st down reception, 1st & 10…

11:30- Gain of one by Grant, 3rd & 3…

10:53- Cole, UNCOVERED, makes the catch and runs for 11. Who is covering him? Are they in zone? It is hard to tell.

9:25- Patriots lose contain on Bortles AGAIN. 1st & Goal, this is hard to watch.

8:20- 3rd & Goal…

7:54- Incomplete pass; great pressure by Clayborn on the play; the Jaguars pick up three on the field goal, so they now lead by exactly three touchdowns. Jags 24, Patriots 3

7:44- Patterson returns it to the 20, but there was an illegal block in the back. They will now be back at the 10…

7:30- Incomplete pass on 1st down, and a Jaguar (I can’t see his number) is down. It will be 2nd & 10 when they get him off the field.

7:28- Gain of five by Dorsett, 3rd & 5…

6:50- Brady takes a shot down the field to Dorsett, but he overthrew him. The Patriots will be forced to punt; 4th & 10…

6:43- The Jags take over at their own 30. Jags 24, Pats 3

6:03- Fumble! The Patriots are finally starting to hit, and the result is a takeaway. Let’s see if the offense can capitalize on the first positive defensive play of the day.

4:04- Brady runs for a gain of seven and a much needed 1st down; 1st & 10…

2:52- Great run by Michel for 11, 1st & 10…

2:34- Michel runs for three, 2nd & Goal…

1:42- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS!! Brady hits Hogan from five yards out, and the offense finally makes a play. Jaguars 24, Patriots 10

1:29- Guy makes the tackle after a gain of one, 2nd & 9…

:55- Drop by Moncrief makes it 3rd & 9…

:48- Incomplete pass, and the Patriots defense comes up with a HUGE three-and-out.

:26- 27-yard gain by White, and the Patriots are in business.

:04- Seven more for White, and the Patriots offense is rolling. That is the end of the quarter, a quarter that looked at Jacksonville until the Patriots defense forced a fumble. Jaguars 24, Patriots 10

FOURTH QUARTER

15:00- Pass is incomplete to Gronk, 3rd & 4…

14:37- Patterson fell, but HE NEEDS TO GET UP! Lazy. Gostkowski came in a drilled a 46 yard field goal to cut the lead to 11. Inexcusable play by Patterson, and the Patriots only come away with three when they badly needed seven. Jaguars 24, Patriots 13

13:23- Interception, Patriots!! Van Noy makes the play off the deflection from Sefarian-Jenkins, and the Patriots have a legitimate chance to make this a game.

13:18- Incomplete pass, 2nd & 10…

13:11- White runs for a gain of one; why not use Michel? 3rd & 9…

12:26- Fumble by Brady, recovered by the Jags. Waddle couldn’t contain his man, and that will most likely finish this game. If Jacksonville puts together a drive, it’s over.

12:17- Grant juked the defender out of his pants, 1st down on the play.

10:20- Gilmore makes a huge tackle to force 4th & 1, which the Jags will go for…

9:47- Timeout, Jags.

9:47- Illegal shift, now the Jags are forced to punt. That was a major brainfart right there. New England takes over at their own eight.

9:09- 2nd & 9, Patriots…

8:54- Gain of three, 3rd & 6…

8:18- 1st down conversion, but that may be reviewed. Marrone challenged the play, and I’m pretty sure they are going to win the challenge. We are most likely looking at 4th & inches, which New England will most likely go for.

8:18- Apparently the Patriots are going to punt; I don’t agree with the decision, but I haven’t won five Super Bowls either.

7:48- Awful coverage on the 17 yard return, but that should have been a 1st down if the Patriots had any awareness.

7:30- Touchdown, Jaguars. Pathetic. Another crossing route defended completely wrong, and that is a wrap from Jacksonville. Jags 30, Patriots 13

7:25- Burkhead runs for two, 2nd & 8…

7:03-  Burkhead runs for 11 more, 1st & 10…

6:31- Two more for Burkhead, 2nd & 8…very conservative offensive approach.

5:57- Dorsett makes the catch at the Jaguars 42, and the Patriots are driving.

5:12- Brady, who should have thrown it away, gets sacked. He has to get that out; 2nd & 16…

4:26- Patterson gains 18 on the bubble screen, 1st & 10…

3:48- Brady throws it away, 2nd & 10…

3:40- TOUCHDOWN, PATRIOTS! Hogan makes the catch and runs the rest of the way for the score; Patriots cut the lead to 11 again, but there isn’t enough time to comeback, unless they recover a couple onside kicks. Jaguars 31, Patriots 20

3:28- Loss of six on the backwards pass; that was dumb. 2nd & 16…

3:20- Wow, that is just awful coverage. 1st down completion. Gross.

3:16- Grant runs for a gain of one, 2nd & 9, Patriots call timeout.

3:07- Jacksonville takes a shot down the field, but they couldn’t complete the pass. 3rd & 9…

2:56- The level of frustration from watching the SAME THING OVER AND OVER has done me in for today. Contain on Bortles lost, he runs for a 1st down.

Game.

Over.

2:00- Jags fumble, but recover. 2nd & 10, New England has just one timeout to go, and this is over. We’ll stick it out for the final two minutes, but like I just said, watching the same mistakes OVER AND OVER is painful.

1:36- 3rd & 3…

:59- Grant runs for the 1st, and that’ll do it here from Jacksonville. The Patriots need their new receivers to learn the system, Edelman to be himself when they return, and they need to fix their coverage issues. Rough day for the Patriots, who drop to 1-1.

FINAL SCORE- JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 31, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 20

Thanks for being with us today, and be sure to join us next week when the Patriots face the Detroit Lions. Have a great week!
