After a couple of days headlined by bad news, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to have some good news to share in the next couple of days.
According to Kevin Kleps of crainscleveland.com, the NBA is expected to award Cleveland with a future NBA All-Star weekend.

The earliest NBA All-Star weekend can make its return to Cleveland is in February, 2022. An official announcement is expected to come down from the NBA as early as November, 1.
If the 2022 game is awarded to Cleveland, it would be the 75th NBA All-Star game. In addition, it would mark the 25th anniversary of the last time the NBA All-Star weekend was in Cleveland. 1997 is the last time the league’s All-Star weekend took place at Quicken Loans Arena.

Chicago and Indianapolis will host the 2020 and 2021 NBA All-Star weekends respectively. The 2019 game will be played in Charlotte.
The Cavaliers home, Quicken Loans Arena is in year two of a two-year rebuilding project. The city needed to renovate Quicken Loans Arena in order to be considered as a future host of the NBA All-Star weekend.
The NBA’s biggest weekend of the regular season will be one of many national events hosted at Quicken Loans Arena in the next few years. In March 2020, first and second round action of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament will take place in Cleveland. In April 2024, the NCAA women’s Final Four takes place at Quicken Loans Arena.
The “Q” has also hosted the NBA Finals the last four seasons. In addition, Quicken Loans Arena hosted the 2018 NCAA wrestling championships, the 2007 NCAA women’s Final Four.
Outside of the sports world, Quicken Loans Arena served as the host to the 2016 Republican National Convention.
