The best basketball players in the world will get together in Cleveland in February, 2022.

Thursday afternoon, the National Basketball Association officially awarded the 2022 All-Star Game and festivities to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Quicken Loans Arena will play host to All-Star weekend February 18-20, 2022.

Cleveland will host the NBA’s mid-season event for the third time in franchise history. 1997 marked the last time NBA All-Star weekend took place in Cleveland. Quicken Loans Arena was known as Gund Arena back then. Cleveland also hosted the game in 1981 at the old Richfield Coliseum.

The All-Star weekend will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the league. It will also be an economic boom for the city of Cleveland.

Upgrades to Quicken Loans played a key role in the NBA awarding the game to Cleveland. $140 million is renovations are currently taking place. The goal is to provide an enhanced experience for fans for all events taking place at Quicken Loans Arena.

NBA All-Star on court events will tip off on Friday, February 18 at Quicken Loans Arena with Mountain Dew Ice Rising Stars, an annual showcase for top rookies and second-year NBA players. On February 19, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will feature the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. In addition, the Three-Point and Slam Dunk contests will take place that night. NBA All-Star 2022 will culminate with the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 20.
The NBA will host several events for fans of all ages at venues throughout the city. These events, including NBA All-Star Practice and the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game will feature basketball programming and entertainment for fans. The public will also have up-close access to NBA players, legends and celebrities.
