On Monday, the Washington Redskins announced they signed veteran offensive tackle Austin Howard. Early Tuesday morning or late Monday, the Redskins made two more quiet signings as they inked Jonathan Cooper and Luke Bowanko.
It wasn’t the most pleasant week for the Redskins or their fans. First the Redskins lost on Sunday to the Falcons, 38-14. That wasn’t the bad news though. The bad news was that Washington lost offensive lineman Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao for the season.
The details of the two signings were not released.
In 2013, Cooper was the first-round pick for the Arizona Cardinals but due to some setbacks, he missed his entire rookie season with a leg injury. In Cooper’s career he appeared in 42 games, 27 of which were starts. The most starts from Cooper came last season where he started in 13 games with Dallas.
Bowanko was a Jaguars sixth-round pick in 2014 and he had a more successful rookie season. In his first year in the NFL, he started in 14 games for the Jaguars but his playing time rapidly declined as he did not start for the Jags in 2015 or 2016, he did however appear in seven games over that span. He was later traded away to the Ravens where only started one game.
