The Colts are coming off a cheeky win at home over the Jaguars with a score of 29-26. This week they host the 5-4 Titans who are looking for a playoff appearance.
Heading into this game, it’s make-or-break for the Colts’ playoff hopes. The team’s tempo and energy is something huge that needs to be very high. Without energy or tempo, there is no urge to win or battle. If the Colts do not bring any high energy they can give up their playoff hopes. Playoff teams come to battle every practice and every game. This is a huge thing for the Colts if they want to take the second seat in the AFC South and be in contention for the sixth wild-card spot.
Former Lions tight end Eric Ebron has been nothing short of spectacular for Frank Reich and the Colts. He leads all tight ends in tough downs and has been the best free agent signing of any team. Knowing how explosive and impactful he is, we can assume the Titans will double cover him or play more zone. With Ebron being so heavily guarded, look for star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and star tight end Jack Doyle to have major impacts this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if they each had roughly 75-100 yards and a touchdown or two each.

The Titans front seven is very effective when they apply themselves. The Colts’ offensive line has been the best offensive line over the past five weeks allowing one sack and Marlon Mack to have a great day during that time. To be dominant against a tough front seven makes a statement across the league that 1: the Colts are here to contend and 2: the Colts have the best offensive line in the league. This is a huge week continuing stats as Andrew Luck needs to throw for three touchdowns for another week straight and the Colts’ offensive line needs to keep Luck clean again continuing the ‘no sack’ streak. (Maxx Hotton dives deeper into that here)
