We are just two weeks away from the fantasy playoffs and its really go time. We need our Cleveland Browns players and fantasy players to come through now more then ever.
Cleveland had a bye last week which can only mean good things for an offense that has been improving every week and now had a full week to get even more ingrained in their new offense philosophy. Week 12 has them playing the Cincinnati Bengals. A defense that has been bad both against pass and the run which should lead to great things from our fantasy players.
Quarterback: Baker Mayfield – Start
Baker Mayfield has been on a roll the past few weeks. In 5 out of his 8 weeks as a starter, Mayfield has been a low end QB1 high end QB2. He now goes up against a Bengals defense that has been consistently ranked around 28 to 32 every week against the pass. Expect Baker to have a big day here Sunday and continue to produce as the top QB we all know he is.
Running backs: Nick Chubb – Start, Duke Johnson Jr. – Start
Nick Chubb is an easy start now as he has already proven to be a top back in the NFL. Yet for fantasy at least in his last 5 out of 7 games he has produced as much even with Duke Johnson getting the run he got. The commitment to the run by new offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens is going to keep Chubb producing especially against a defense that has been gashed of late ranked 29th-32nd as of late.
Duke is another good start this week as he has been a focus of the offense once again. His PPR value has shot up again with the amount of catches he has been getting. It would be better to see him get more than a couple carries every week. With what he does in the receiving game alone will bring back value this week.
Wide receivers: Jarvis Landry – Start, Rashard Higgins – Start, Antonio Callaway – Sit, Breshad Perriman – Sit
Jarvis Landry has struggled of late mostly due to the fact that even though he is the number one read on most plays, Baker has been throwing to the open receiver instead of forcing the ball to his playmakers. However, Landry should get back on track this week with a good matchup.
Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins has been money since coming back from injury and should continue to produce again this week. Higgins thrives in the slot and usually means he gets the better matchup, meaning Baker will throw to him early and often.
Tight ends: David Njoku – Start
David Njoku is again a start based solely on how poor the tight end position is for fantasy. Add in the fact that while Njoku has had some bad weeks he has been productive more often than not.
Cleveland Browns defense- Sit
This is a hard one for me. Cleveland could go off on the Bengals offense and rack up points and turnovers. However, I expect this to be a shootout. Therefore I do expect the Browns defense to give up their fair share of points as well.
