We've elevated OL Kyle Kalis to the active roster
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) December 1, 2018
Kalis is a very familiar name around Northeast Ohio, and not because he played for the Wolverines. Kalis played his high school football at one of the Cleveland areas top programs, Lakewood Saint Edward High School.
If has been a very exciting last 24 hours for fans and alumni of the Saint Edward Eagles. The news of one of its alumni playing for the Browns comes one day after they celebrate winning another state championship in football.
Kalis is in his second season in the NFL, although he is officially listed as a rookie. He originally signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Kalis started two of four career games with the Indianapolis Colts last season.
Kalis is 6-4, 306 pounds. He will wear number 68 for the Browns.
To make room on the 53-man roster, wide receiver Da’Mari Scott was released. Scott has been inactive the past five games after spending the first six weeks on the Browns’ practice squad.
The Browns have signed OL Kyle Kalis to the roster from the practice squad and waived WR Da'Mari Scott. Kalis is needed because of the foot injury that will keep rookie Austin Corbett from playing in Houston. Look for the Browns to bring Scott back to… https://t.co/bIIrnNvo0K
