Toledo
Toledo finished 7-5, 5-3 in conference. They lost to Miami and Fresno State and in the MAC they lost to Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, and Northern Illinois. The 7 wins is their fewest since 2013 (also went 7-5). Toledo hasn’t had a losing season since 2009.
Florida International
FIU finished 8-4, 6-2 in conference. Two conference losses in the final month (to FAU and Marshall) cost them the C-USA East. In the non-conference, they lost to Indiana and Miami in the non-conference. Butch Davis, in his second year at FIU led the Panthers to their second consecutive year winning 8 games (8-5 in 2017) and only their 4th bowl game all-time.
Final Analysis
Two teams that finished as runner-ups in their respective divisions, within the MAC and C-USA meet up in the Bahamas Bowl.
