The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a history of well known wide receivers. Joey Galloway, Keenan Mccardell, Keyshawn Johnson and Joe Jurevicious to name just a few. In 2015, the Bucs drafted the next superstar at wide receiver Mike Evans.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a young superstar. Mike Evans has now accomplished a feat no one else has accomplished in NFL history. He became the youngest wide-out to reach five consecutive 1,00 yard seasons. His list of franchise records is even longer than his list of NFL honors. Most receiving touchdowns, most receiving yards, most 1,000 yard seasons. He has dominated many pro bowl corner backs for years. The crazy part? he’s not even in his prime yet. If Evans were to continue at his current rate for another five years, he would enter the top 30 in all time receiving yards. Jerry Rice played for 19 seasons, Moss Retired when he was 35 and Isaac Bruce played 15 years. If those are any indication, Mike Evans has a long career in Pewter and Red. Plenty of time to break some of the records of the all time greats.
The biggest question for Mike Evans moving forward? Who will be under center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While most would tell you that it’s Jameis Winston, Things aren’t exactly set. I do believe Jameis will be the quarterback, but its far from certain. The new staff will most likely have a say in that as well. Regardless, Mike Evans will continue to succeed and whoever is the next coach will welcome him with open arms. Who knows, maybe, just maybe, The Bucs can throw their 6’5 red zone target a fade route in the end zone. Eh…. Probably just wishful thinking.
Check back tomorrow for day number 8 of Bucsmas!
