2019 Raiders Draft Prospect Profile
Name: Donald Parham
Position: Tight End
School: Stetson University
Weight: 245 pounds
Round Projection: Day 3
Granted, Parham will not destroy anyone singled up and head to head. Yet, Parham will get himself square and put his weight behind the attempted block. Now, what he must do at the next level is add 10-15 pounds without losing athleticism. Before that, Parham will need to get more comfortable as an in-line blocker.
In all honesty, Parham’s position, and super angular frame prevents much twitch. Yet, versus a much smaller linebacker, Parham will shift his hips, in order to create enough space down the field.
Without equivocation, there is no prospect in this draft with a wider catch radius. From almost anywhere, the pass can find Parham open. Regardless of the location on the field, he gives the quarterback a mammoth window to find him. More importantly, Parham is a natural pass catcher. Blessed with huge hands and decent reflexes, Parham shows the ability to adjust a myriad of passes.
Not only Parham possess rather intriguing burst, Parham accelerates well off the snap. Down the seam, he gets even with the defender, and then begins to pull away. When he makes the grab, he turns on the speed and pulls away from the defense. When he gets to full speed, Parham leaves behind anyone in his vicinity.
As mentioned, Parham needs to gain a bit of weight. While that could range between five to ten pounds, this will bolster his power.
While Jon Gruden loves the multiple tight ends on the roster, someone like Parham could carve out an intriguing niche. First, if Gruden uses his keen offensive instinct, Parham becomes an absolutely matchup nightmare. If Gruden splits him out, who covers him? If you put a linebacker over him, Parham wins with speed. On the other hand, a safety gets dwarfed and utterly overshadowed. The Raiders could use him as a flex tight end. Better yet, the Raiders could deploy him in the red zone. He will win every jump ball thrown his way. Granted, the Raiders own ten picks. If Parham is still around in the sixth, Oakland should take him. As a developmental, yet athletic tight end, Parham could give them a need boost of athleticism. More importantly, if Parham stays the same size, you could conceivably see him as a wideout.
