Stats
Hands

During his career, Campbell saw the ball in various ways in Columbus. Yet, due to factors, his hands were not trusted in various ways. Due to his speed and ability to separate, the contested catch never really factored in too many equations. Next, the Buckeyes did not feature him in high traffic areas or middle of the field. As a result, Campbell will need to get his timing and stab correct on intermediate passes. Lastly, in his defense, he does present a healthy catch radius, with the ability to leap over defender. In that case, enough of a solid foundation exists to develop a firm foundation.

Speed

At the snap, Campbell bolts with a sudden release. Down the field, he easily pulls away from corners and will streak by late-arriving safeties. Despite a pedestrian ypc line, Campbell’s speed at the next level should excite teams. Campbell’s length of stride is not as important as the lack of an in-between step. That means Campbell gets to speed quickly. In addition, he will draw his share of jet sweeps. When he gets the corner, he has the chance to take it the distance.

Route Running

As mentioned, OSU used Campbell in very controlled manner. Consequently, the patterns were not the more intricate. Yet, that lies with the coaches and scheme, more so than Campbell does. The Buckeyes used Campbell on screens, outs, and go routes. At the next level, look for a seasoned position coach to take the abundant physical gifts and quickly get him a full route tree.

Intangibles

While in the Buckeyes offense, Campbell needed to share the ball and spotlight with so much talent. When he sees targets, Campbell shines. In addition, he will take the occasional handoff and operates everywhere with no issue.

Raiders Fit

If the Raiders signed a free agent like, say Donte Moncrief, pair him with Jordy Nelson, Campbell could start as the third wideout. In the system, he would learn from veterans and widen his learning base. Meanwhile, jet sweeps and screen could feature Campbell and display his speed. If Oakland decides to spread the defense out, picture him getting hip-to hip with a slot corner. Under those circumstances, the veterans above him on the depth chart will give him time to mature and flourish the right way.7
