Cap One is the destination Dan Snyder Wishes FedEx could be
Some of the negativity about FedEx Field has been shifted with the Redskins offseason in the early stages. However, that does not mean when Capitals and Wizards owner Ted Leonsis does something, there is not immediate comparison.
Daniel Snyder has had to take a back seat to Leonsis for years now. Leonsis’ on ice and court products have been far superior. Capital One’s facilities are more fan friendly and Ted interacts with DC sports fans only a way Snyder could dream about. Then today happens. It was announced on the Washington Capitals twitter feed that the second phase of renovations to Capital One Arena were coming Fall 2019.

Chinatown is already a mecca for DC sports fans year round. There are fans who have diverted their discretionary funds to Capitals and Wizards season tickets instead of being Redskins season ticket holders. This story is a tale almost as old as time with how bad FedEx is both location and concession stand wise.
Snyder needs to start getting desperate and show that he wants to compete for business against Capital One Arena. Especially with Maryland pulling out of bidding for the Redskins new stadium. Ted wants corner the market by turning his arena into THE place to be with sports betting and entertainment. Snyder on the other hand could be left looking like Mr. Moneybags pulling out empty pockets on a Chance card.
