With plays in front of him, Harris features comfortable burst, That is to say, he roams underneath with the confidence to hit the gas in a hurry. However, on longer routes, that looks to test the limits of Harris’ explosion. Now, there is an outstanding chance that he will more often than not play in the box or closer to the line in coverage.
If you had to boil down Harris and his approach to coverage, the word instinctive comes to mind. When he either encountered a sloppy wideout or locked on QB, look for him to drive on the ball. Without hesitation, he sprints towards to where he believes the ball will be. Regardless of which branch of the tree, Harris picks up of tendencies. In regards to the physical aspect, Harris will shadow with a small gap, in order to readjust to the route and fighting through the pick plays.
Despite only one forced fumble, Harris resembles a strike tackle. For example, with a short pass, look for the pad level. Harris will stay behind his pads and strike within the target area. In addition, in run support, he would weave through the mess, and then fully commit to tackling. In space, Harris will not wait for help. Also, while pursuing from an angle, the level changes to fit the play and not draw the ire/flag of the referee.
If you could boil Harris’ career in Chestnut Hill to four words, right place, right time. Now, some will be lucky, Harris efforts and makes a beeline for the ball. That is why he recovered six fumbles and picked off five passes.
While Harris’ name may not grab attention, know that Mike Mayock is fully aware. Mayock, a Boston College alum still maintains a very close relationship with the program. As a result, the Raiders will look towards him, if he’s a value pick.
