Hometown Hero Vernon Davis Recognized for Civic Actions

It is not often that Washington, D.C. gets to celebrate its own.  As sports fans, we have had to endure big names leave our favorite teams in free agency and never to return.

Today, however, is a different day.

Vernon Davis returned to his old elementary school, Truesdell Education Campus, to receive the honorary plaque and to have March 12th announced as Vernon Davis Day in Washington, D.C.

Davis was also celebrated as a Maryland Terrapin for life and received an honorary helmet with the teams logo on it.

We do not know what will happen with Davis and his tenure as a Redskin this offseason.  However, Vernon Davis will forever be a staple in the D.C. community.  The city has made sure of that.
