AJ Brown Drafted By Titans At Pick 51

Friday night, after a long wait, AJ Brown found his home in the Music City.  Titans General Manager Jon Robinson is clearly looking to surround quarterback Marcus Mariota with weapons.  Mariota’s shiny new toy, Brown, was a highly productive player at Ole Miss.  Overshadowed all draft process by his mammoth teammate DK Metcalf, Brown is going to be given every chance to succeed.

Initial Reaction – Great Fit!

In JRob We Trust!  Robinson delivered again by adding arguably the best wide receiver in the class.  Brown profiles primarily as a bigger slot receiver but has all the physical tools to play everywhere.  He excels at creating separation and is essentially a running back after the catch.  Brown also has excellent ball tracking abilities and silky smooth route running, especially while cutting.  What’s most impressive about Brown is his ability to seamlessly change speeds as needed during his routes.

Brown will likely settle into the second wide receiving option ahead of Adam Humphries and behind Corey Davis.  Brown is certainly talented enough to challenge Davis for the alpha receiver role.  If he and Mariota establish a great connection early, this could turn into an Adam Thielen/Stefon Diggs style situation.

Next Pick?

One of the primary needs that the Titans should look to address is out on the edge and at the tight end role.  Robinson does love to move around in the draft.  He has proven that he isn’t afraid to take chances on players he believes in.  The Titans should look to add tight end next while there are still good options available.  Regardless, In JRob We Trust.  TitanUp!
