A.K.A. “The One Where The Viking Raiders Keep Their Name”

The Money in the Bank card is taking shape. Miz will continue his issues with Shane McMahon inside of a steel cage. A.J. Styles showed some heel tendencies in his show closing contract signing with Seth Rollins. While Rollins wants to burn it down, A.J. Styles will rebuild RAW.

  • Ricochet and Braun Strowman def. Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre
Usos  def. The Club (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson)
Bobby Lashley def. The Miz after Shane McMahon caused a distraction
  • Viking Raiders def.  Lucha House Party (Kalisto & Gran Metalik) w/ Lince Dorado
  • Naomi def. Alexa Bliss
  • Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder def. The Revival
  • Rey Mysterio def. Samoa Joe

Match of the Night: Ricochet & Braun Strowman def. Drew McIntyre & Baron Corbin with a 630.

The opening tag match featuring the four men who will represent RAW in the Money in the Bank match was stellar. Ricochet was a star, even as the smallest man in the match. It even had logical booking, with McIntyre clocking Corbin after he cost him a shot at the Universal Championship last week. Consistency in RAW storylines? Say it ain’t so!

Three Thoughts:

McIntyre Is On Fire

Out of all four of the Money in the Bank participants, McIntyre did the best job with his mic time. McIntyre comes across as a no-nonsense badass who will step to anyone. He bullies and brutalizes in equal measure, and it was refreshing to see him take out a fellow heel in Corbin. Ricochet will likely be the star of the match, but McIntyre is the best bet to win the briefcase from RAW.

Shaney Two-Feuds

This fact came across the Twitter feed during the Miz-Lashley match: Shane McMahon is feuding with two major stars across the two brands. Why can’t at least one of those spots be given to someone properly. Yes, Roman Reigns is facing off against Elias and not Shane at Money in the Bank, but McMahon’s presence is still there. Miz and McMahon in a cage match should hopefully blow off their feud. It still seems so strange to have Shane featured so prominently, even if he is the “best in the world”.

Someone Shave Us

The Usos and the Revival are feuding. This is great news. The bad news: they’re shaving over the Usos filming Wilder shaving Dawson’s back. These are two of the best tag teams in the world right now. To have them feuding over anything other than the tag team championships or a future shot at the straps is absolutely ludicrous. If any teams can make it work, it’ll be these two. Still it’s amazing to think that creative couldn’t think of anything else for them.

Grade: B-

Overall an inconsistent show with no single stand-out match. The Usos-Revival shaving segment gets a thumbs down, but the heat brought in the Rollins-Styles promo almost makes up for it. Plus there was round two of the Firefly Funhouse, so we can’t get mad at that.

One Last Thing:

Refreshing to see Dana Brooke get a shot in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the women. She’s there alongside Alexa Bliss, Naomi, and Natalya for RAW. That makes Brooke the most intriguing option for the red brand.
