The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.
WWE Wild Card Rule Explained
WWE has a new rule allowing four members from SmackDown Live to show up on Raw, and vice versa each week. According to Dave Meltzer (h/t WrestlingInc.com), this was done in response to pressure from Fox and USA Network. Both networks want more star power on their shows, so allowing four extra top stars on each show will increase the drawing power.
The pressure from networks has lead to this change. Will the addition of stars like Roman Reigns and A.J. Styles do enough to bump the ratings?
One of Raw’s Lead Writers Released
There are more changes to WWE’s writing team. Ryan Callahan has been fired from the Raw writing team, according to Fightful. Callahan was let go on Thursday, May 2nd and had been with WWE for a few years. It was said Callahan conflicted with fellow creative team member Dave Kapoor, a.k.a. Ranjin Singh.
This adds to the many recent changes the WWE writing staff has seen. Road Dogg stepped down recently as SmackDown Live’s lead writer, and writer RD Evans quit during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
