NXT Takeover Adds Two Matches

The next NXT Takeover has two new matches added to the card. Taking place on June 1st in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the men’s and women’s championship matches for the card have been made official.

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler will defend against Io Shirai. The two clashed at the last NXT Takeover event in a fatal four-way alongside Kairi Sane and Bianca Belair. This will mark Shirai’s first singles shot for the NXT Women’s Championship.

The NXT Championship will once again be contested between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano. Cole and Gargano battled in a two out of three falls match at NXT Takeover: New York for the then-vacant NXT Championship. Despite the interference of Cole’s Undisputed Era, Gargano managed to prevail.

The NXT Tag Team title picture remains murky. The Viking Raiders (former War Raiders) seemingly vacated the titles after a tag team title match with Street Profits this week. What will happen to the belts is still up in the air.

Lars Sullivan Fined by WWE

WWE fined Lars Sullivan after misogynistic and racially insensitive comments came to light recently. In a statement to WrestlingInc, WWE said Sullivan will be fined $100,00 and be required to attend sensitivity training. The remarks were made by Sullivan on a bodybuilding forum years ago.

WWE wrestlers like Big E made it clear that fellow wrestlers were aware of Sullivan’s comments. Titus O’Neil tweeted what appeared to show Sullivan had apologized to wrestlers backstage as well.
