Summerslam Returns Spoiled?

Some advertising for WWE Summerslam may have spoiled the appearances of two wrestlers. Local advertising for Summerslam in Toronto, Canada has the Undertaker wrestling in a match (h/t Cultaholic). He is advertised to be facing Drew McIntyre. That would be a continuation of his current feud with Roman Reigns against McIntyre and Shane McMahon.

Latest WWE News

Also advertised for Summerslam now is Sasha Banks. Missing since Wrestlemania 35, Banks has been added to the graphic for Summerslam. There are reports Banks has been unhappy with her WWE contract. Her last match was at Wrestlemania, when her and Bayley lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Paco Alonso Passes Away

CMLL owner Paco Alonso has passed away at the age of 66. Alonso was the owner and President of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, taking over in 1987. He was part of the family that originally ran CMLL, and continued the company in a very traditional manner as President. CMLL is known for traditional matches, a lack of gimmicks, and a deep sense of tradition.

Latest Wrestling News

Alonso is also known for creating working relationships with companies like NJPW, ROH, & RevPro in the U.K. CMLL also has had some storied promotional rivalries including with fellow Mexican promotion AAA. Our condolences to Alonso’s friends, family, and fans of his work.

Did Rhyno Return to Impact?

At Impact Slammiversary XVII on Sunday, a masked man ran in after the Impact World Championship match. After losing to Brian Cage, Michael Elgin beat up Don Callis in the ring. Elgin was then speared by a masked man.

The man never removes his mask, but it is believed to be Rhyno returning to Impact. Commentary makes a point of calling the spear “a gore”. Rhyno’s contract with WWE expires later this month. He has made it clear he is not re-signing with the company.

A former NWA World Champion, Rhyno was employed with Impact/TNA between 2005-2010, and in 2014.
