News broke recently that Lavonte David had minor knee surgery. Here’s what we know.
#Bucs coach Bruce Arians says LB Lavonte David had a procedure to address a torn meniscus in his knee. It was a trim and agent Ron Butler says he’ll be fine to start the regular season.

Many Buccaneers fans including myself woke up this morning with some scary news. The update read: Lavonte David had meniscus surgery. I had shivers down my spine after reading that. The fact the Buccaneers defensive leader may have had a significant pre-season injury would be an extremely big loss for the young defense. The team is going through a scheme change and the loss of versatility David brings could slow the development significantly.
However, we all can take a sigh of relief as word is that the surgery was very minor and he should be ready for the start of the NFL season, which is a month away. Bruce Arians addressed the media, very nonchalant, stated Davids injury and he should be back soon.

It was also confirmed that it was a minor meniscus tear. While the word minor is very stress relieving, any surgery, especially on the knee, is never great to hear about. The 29-year-old linebacker is still in his prime and the defense needs him now more than ever. It’s great knowing that he won’t play in the preseason and garner an even worse injury in a meaningless game, but the reason he’s out is still concerning.
With the Buccaneers having two regular-season games in five days if David’s injury lingers he could miss an eighth of the season in a blink. I am comfortable knowing that Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles are experienced coaches and won’t put David in any harmful situations between now and the regular season. Hopefully, he’s fully healed soon and we see him back on the field looking 100%. Are you concerned with David’s health? Should the Bucs be extremely cautious with his return? Sound off on Twitter, Facebook or the comments on how you feel about the David news.
