WWE Summerslam 2019 Predictions

It’s the biggest party of the summer, at least according to WWE! Everybody get ready for one of WWE’s biggest shows. There’s a ton of intrigue on this card, including the debut of “The Fiend” and the returns of Goldberg and Trish Stratus. Who will walk out of Toronto as champions and victors? Javier, Ryan, and Evan are here with all the predictions you need for Summerslam.

WWE.com

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak (c) vs Oney Lorcan

Javier: While I am the biggest fan of Oney Lorcan on Twitter, Gulak wins. His run is just starting and I can see him stringing along an incredible series of matches and feuds before dropping the title.

Andrei Vasilevskiy Favorite To Win The 2020-21 Vezina Trophy

January 15, 2021

Pick – Drew Gulak

Ryan: This should be a hard-hitting affair if only due to Lorcan’s inclusion. Gulak has been an impressive champion, although the division isn’t lacking for solid champions. Should be another solid 205 Live match.

Pick – Drew Gulak

Evan: Drew Gulak is trying to remake 205 Live in his image. It would be too early to stop that crusade. Even though Lorcan is hilarious online, it has to be Gulak.

Pick – Drew Gulak

WWE.com

Trish Stratus vs Charlotte Flair

Javier: The match to decide which woman is the “greatest of all time” will he won by WWE’s hand-chosen “GOAT”. It should be a fun match to watch but in the end Flair will add to her legacy and take down Trish because beating someone 13 years after their prime is impressive or whatever.

Pick – Charlotte

Ryan: Please, Charlotte needs to win. While it is great to see a legend like Trish Stratus, Charlotte is the full-timer and better in the ring than Trish ever was. This is a great way to have Charlotte on the card, but anything other than a convincing victory for the Queen, would be a disservice to the current product.

Pick – Charlotte

Evan: It would be a shame if WWE had Trish Stratus come back and beat their best-established female wrestler. Would I put it past them? Not for a second. I do think Charlotte manages to establish herself of Queen of All Eras.

Pick – Charlotte

WWE.com

WWE United States Championship: A.J. Styles (c) vs Ricochet

Javier: I’m very intrigued by The Club reuniting. They should be holding gold for as long as possible and heel AJ is the best AJ so I’m all in on an extended title reign for him.

Pick – A.J. Styles

Ryan: Both men are capable of putting on an exciting match. Styles has the advantage with Anderson and Gallows waiting in the shadows. Ricochet has shown the ability to beat Styles, but can he get a fair match out of the veteran?

Pick – A.J. Styles

Evan: If Ricochet really is Paul Heyman’s pet project, this could be the start of it. The United States Championship is one that is used to bouncing around. While not ideal to do another quick-switch, Ricochet could go on a lengthy reign.

Pick – Ricochet

WWE.com

Goldberg vs Dolph Ziggler

Javier: Goldberg’s “redemption” match against Dolph Ziggler will go how Goldberg matches should always go: Spear, Jackhammer, done. One minute, max for this match

Pick – Goldberg

Ryan: We thought we had finally seen the last of Goldberg. Saudi Arabia left a sour taste for everyone, especially the guy who was the hottest thing in wrestling for a two year span. It would be beneficial for Ziggler to get the victory here, keep the disrespect for WWE Legends going for a few more months. However, There will likely be a few spears. Just let this be entertaining.

Pick – Goldberg

Evan: Similar to the Stratus-Flair match, it’s hard to see current talent get beaten by Legends. Goldberg is a destructive force and always has been. It would be monumental to see Ziggler put him away, but I don’t see Ziggler getting that big of a rub.

Pick – Goldberg

WWE.com

Finn Balor vs “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Javier: “The Fiend” is debuting and there is just no way that Wyatt loses this match. Balor is getting a long overdue break and I fully expect him to give maximum effort doing the job. Wyatt wins via Mandible Claw.

Pick – Bray Wyatt

Ryan: The Fiend gets his first PPV match. After months of waiting, we see the terrifying alter ego of Bray Wyatt. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, changes in the moveset and movement for Wyatt. This promises to be an exciting match, and could definitely steal the show.

Pick – Bray Wyatt

Evan: Could you imagine if they let Finn go over? Could you?

Pick – Bray Wyatt

WWE.com

Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon

Javier: Stone Cold Kevin Owens is not losing a match with his job on the line. Stone Cold Kevin Owens will end the awful run of Shane McMahon. McMahon is eating a stunner that will knock him out of his shoes.

Pick – Kevin Owens

Ryan: KO can’t go home. The filter is off and Owens has seen his stock rising as a result. McMahon has maintained his typical annoying behavior during the build. It’s tough to see a match without interference, but Owens has shown a stunning ability to swing the odds into his favor.

Pick – Kevin Owens

Evan: Shane McMahon really should have put his career on the line in this match. Mainly because I’m tired of him sucking up airtime. WWE would be foolish to have Owens kayfabe quit, especially when he’s this hot.

Pick – Kevin Owens

WWE SmackDown Live Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Ember Moon

Javier: I believe that Bayley wins the match with a surprise pin deep in the contest and then Ember turns heel on her to extend the program. There is no interest in this feud and that turn would provide the juice that this program desperately needs.

Pick – Bayley

Ryan: The back and forth between Bayley and Moon has helped raised the excitement level. Moon has been booked as an opportunistic challenger, while Bayley has been ruthless. Bayley is firing on all cylinders right now, but there’s a belief that she can raise her level. This match would be the place. Moon has struggled to find victories in high-stakes matches, Sunday will be no different.

Pick – Bayley

Evan: WWE sometimes does this weird thing of making people look weak before they win a big match. My gut is telling me that’s what they were doing this week. Ember Moon needed to be saved from Natalya on SmackDown, yet she’ll walk out champion Sunday.

Pick – Ember Moon

WWE.com

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs Randy Orton

Javier: Kofi’s run has had some good opponents but some dud matches. Orton is the perfect opponent to give Kofi’s run the electric match that it deserves. Kofi finally puts down Orton and continues his run into the upcoming Fox era of SmackDown Live.

Pick – Kofi Kingston

Ryan:  Nearly 10 years in the making, it’s amazing to see the story unfold. While Kingston is defending his title, he is essentially defending his own honor against Orton. Kingston has been a great champion and has risen to the challenge thus far. Orton is his biggest test, primarily due to the championship experience the Viper possesses. In the end, this is Kingston’s time, he’ll find a way to add another successful defense to his Palace of Positivity.

Pick – Kofi Kingston

Evan: WWE has made this feud a meta-shoot. If they let Orton win, it will justify everything he’s been saying. It will make Kofi Kingston look like he doesn’t belong in the main event. WWE doesn’t want that – the Kofi reign has been fantastic so far.

Pick – Kofi Kingston

WWE.com

WWE Raw Women’s Championship Submission Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs Natalya

Javier: Nattie may be in her home country but she will not be walking out with the title. I predict that Becky wins and rubs the victory a bit too much in Nattie’s face so Ronda Rousey comes out to confront Lynch. It’s a long-shot, but I’m never wrong so there’s that.

Pick – Becky Lynch

Ryan: This has been an entertaining build. It is nice to see an edge to Natalya, something she has been missing for far too long. Making this a submission match was the right thing to do. In the end, I can’t fathom a loss for Becky. She is the best in the division and is one of the biggest stars in the company. This could steal the show.

Pick – Becky Lynch

Evan: To be the man, you have to beat The Man. Natalya will not be “the man” after Summerslam. She’ll lose in her (and my) home country.

Pick – Becky Lynch

WWE.com

WWE Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Seth Rollins

Javier: Seth Rollins was my favorite wrestler in all of wrestling up until his title run. He had an absolutely terrible run and was booked into oblivion as champion and while Brock’s previous two runs were awful, I’m just really over Rollins. Let someone else beat Lesnar and actually bring some credibility to the title, not pair them with Baron Corbin and bring fan-fiction romance to Raw each week.

Pick – Brock Lesnar

Ryan: This is more heart than head, as it is difficult to imagine Rollins coming out on top. Rollins enters with injured ribs/midsection. This will be a major focus during the match. Expect shenanigans here, probably a chair helping Rollins even the odds.

Pick – Seth Rollins

Evan: Once upon a time, Seth Rollins felt legitimately cool. He was the Beastslayer. If he had just stayed off television after the brutal beating Lesnar gave him, he’d be fine. Instead, he came back early and just looked dumb. Rollins has cooled off significantly, and now he doesn’t feel capable of toppling the Beast.

Pick – Brock Lesnar
