Kota Ibushi wins the G1 Climax
The finals of the 2019 G1 are in the books, and Kota Ibushi emerged victorious. He topped “Switchblade” Jay White in the finals Monday to win the tournament. With the win, Ibushi will get a championship match in the future. It is Ibushi’s first G1 tournament win.

Ibushi won Block A by beating Kazuchika Okada on the final night of A Block. Both men finished 7-2 with 14 points. Ibushi won the tiebreaker based on his beating Okada on the final night.
White emerged from a crowded field in Block B. Going into the B Block finals, four men could have won the Block. It was White who emerged from Jon Moxley, Tetsuya Naito, and Hirooki Goto to win the block. White had lost his first three tournament matches before ripping off six straight wins.

Paige Undergoing Neck Surgery
Kabuki Warriors manager and former wrestler Paige has to undergo another neck surgery. During Summerslam weekend, Paige had to cancel a meet and greet appearance. According to a tweet Paige posted, it was to consult with a doctor about her neck.

Paige has had neck issues in the past that led to her in-ring retirement. Now she will need at least one more surgery to help repair the damage.
Austin Theory Appears at TakeOver
EVOLVE World Champion Austin Theory was given the “look who is in the crowd” treatment at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Theory was shown in the crowd and got big applause. The champion was recently featured on EVOLVE’s 10th Anniversary show, defending his title.

WWE.com wrote a piece about Theory appearing at TakeOver. While he isn’t rumored to be a signing of NXT, it wouldn’t be a surprise. Theory has been a standout talent in EVOLVE, and may be the next to jump to WWE.
