Match of the Night: Ali defeats Buddy Murphy
This is now the third straight week on Smackdown that Buddy Murphy has been in the match of the night. This match could have been on a PPV. Both of these superstars are incredible and again proved it tonight. The match starts with a sign of respect between the two. They then go at it and put on a heck of a match. Multiple near falls including Murphy hitting a brainbuster on Ali for the two count. Ali then hits the DDT onto the apron on Murphy, then sets up the 450 splash for the win. Ali advances in the King of the Ring tournament and will face Elias next. Also a mini faceturn for Murphy after shaking Ali’s hand and raising it after the match.
Three Thoughts
Sami Zayn Is Amazing
Zayn became the mouthpiece for the current Intercontinental Champion last week on Smackdown Live. During what was supposed to be a match between Zayn and the Miz, Nakamura hit Miz in the back and laid a viscous attack on the former IC champion. During this brutal attack, Zayn was commentating everything. This is clearly the best thing for Zayn right now. He is one of the best on the mic and will certainly add a new layer to Nakamura’s character. It will be interesting what happens next as it looks like Nakamura will defend his IC title against the Miz at Clash of Champions.
#ICChampion @ShinsukeN STRIKES again on @mikethemiz, and @SamiZayn is loving every second of it! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/5qFZqfyqtB

Smackdown Women’s Division Woes
Tonight’s match between Bayley and Lacey Evans continued to highlight the problems with Smackdown’s women’s division. With the match at Summerslam being lackluster, along with the past two matches on TV for Bayley being the worst matches of their respective nights, it seems as though Bayley’s title run has grown stale. Although getting a huge pop after winning her title at Money in the Bank back in May, she has since started to decline in popularity. Hopefully we see Charlotte Flair beat her at Clash of Champions on September 15th and can bring something new to the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship as we head into the Fox era.

Big E Shines
It’s well known that Big E is an incredible singles star. Tonight he showed that again when he took on Randy Orton. Although losing to Orton after getting help from the Revival, Big E shined in this match. We may still be a ways away from getting the long awaited singles push for Big E, but when it does happen, it should spawn very good matches.
Classic @WWEBigE 😏
Wait. What is #TheRevival doing out here?! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/3dnQTLPf5D

Grade: A
This was one of my favorite Smackdown’s in a while. Although having it’s low moment with the women’s match, all 3 actual men’s matches were very good. We saw great advancement in storyline and good booking, unlike Raw last night. It seems like Vince McMahon did last minute write this script as he had been doing the last month or so besides last week. If this is the case, then maybe Vince is good at writing Smackdown and not Raw for some odd reason. Guess we will just have to wait for more Meltzer reports!
One More Thing:
Daniel Bryan REALLY hates liars.
Was @ERICKROWAN just caught red-handed?@WWERomanReigns doesn't want to hear ANY explanations from @WWEDanielBryan tonight! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/HGtJr1BoKH
