We are just days away from the start of the 2019 NFL season with the initial 53-man rosters submitted over the weekend. The New England Patriots go into the new campaign as the defending champions and the bookmakers’ favorites to once again come out on top in Super Bowl LIV.
Here is a look at three divisional locks this season if you are looking to have a bet on the regular season.
Chicago Bears (NFC North)
Headed home with the W.
— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) August 25, 2019
There was a turning point in the Chicago Bears’ season in 2018 where they started to believe they could not only become a playoff team but also have a real shot of reaching the Super Bowl. That was when they traded for Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders. Mack is one of the best in the league for his position, and he has been able to convert a good defense into an extra special one. With quarterback Mitchell Trubisky now settled in the NFL following two solid campaigns, the Bears are the team to beat in the NFC North for the second consecutive year where they can be backed at +280. The Packers, Vikings and Lions all need to improve to dislodge Matt Nagy’s team, and they don’t look to be strong enough to be able to do that.
Cleveland Browns (AFC North)
It’s been a long time since the Cleveland Browns have been relevant in the NFL, but after a promising second half to the 2018 campaign and the jaw-dropping acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr in the off-season, Browns fans in Ohio cannot wait for the new season to begin. The Browns have been one of the most popular NFL predictions for the Super Bowl given the quality and depth in their roster now. Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a superb rookie season last year and should be even better this time around. The former Oklahoma man oozes confidence, and he has the ability to back it up. The biggest rivals to the Browns in the AFC North will be the Pittsburgh Steelers; however, they are now without Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, arguably their two biggest threats over the last few years. Cleveland is the +240 favorites to win their division and they look strong enough to be able to do that in 2019.

Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East)
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) August 30, 2019
Philadelphia had a big call to make in the off-season with regards to their backup quarterback Nick Foles. In the end, they opted to trade the former Super Bowl MVP to the Jacksonville Jaguars and put their faith in Carson Wentz. The Eagles have done some smart business during the free-trade frenzy with running back Jordan Howard and defensive tackle Malik Jackson being the pick of their signings. The Eagles now look the standout team in the NFC East but a lot will depend on Wentz remaining fit for the 17 weeks. Before he got injured two years ago, Wentz was on course for being the MVP in the league. If he can find that form again, Philadelphia are going to be a very dangerous team and certainly look a good bet at +200 to win their division.
