Christian Kirksey becomes the second Cleveland Browns starter to be placed on injured reserve in the span of 24 hours.

Kirksey, one of the Browns team captains, is dealing with a chest injury suffered during the 23-3 victory Monday night against the New York Jets. The linebacker joins tight end David Njoku as Browns starters placed on injured reserve in the last two days.

Surgery could be in Kirksey’s future. The chest injury is a possible torn pectoral muscle. If that is the actual diagnosis, Kirksey would be done for the season. As of now, Kirksey could return in time for the Miami Dolphins game on November 24.

The Browns elevated linebacker Willie Henry from the practice squad to the active roster. Fifth round pick Mack Wilson will start Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams in Kirksey’s place.
