NXT Notes – Joaquin Wilde & Wale

Two updates from the world of NXT. First, Joaquin Wilde underwent surgery for an injury to his orbital bone. Wilde tweeted a photo of him recovering post-surgery (h/t PWInsider):

Also, WWE announced that rapper Wale will be on NXT Wednesday night. Wale will appear with the Street Profits, who are scheduled to face the Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships. 

He has appeared on WWE television before, including hosting a rap battle in 2017 between New Day and The Usos. If you’ve never seen it before, you are welcome:

Jake Hager to AEW?

There may be a former WWE Heavyweight Champion as a surprise at the debut of AEW Dynamite. According to Sports Illustrated (h/t WrestlingInc), Jake Hager has been in talks with AEW and may make a surprise appearance on Wednesday. Hager was known as Jack Swagger in WWE and performed there from 2006-2017.

Hager is also a mixed martial artist. He is currently 2-0 in Bellator, and has a third fight scheduled for October 25 at Bellator 231 against Anthony Garrett.

Chris Jericho’s Tag Partners Revealed

On AEW’s debut show Wednesday night, AEW Champion Chris Jericho is teaming with two mystery partners. Jericho is scheduled to face The Elite (The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega). On Tuesday, Jericho’s mystery partners were revealed as Santana & Ortiz, formerly known as LAX.

Santana & Ortiz made their debut at All Out attacking the Young Bucks and Lucha Bros. Now going by the name Proud and Powerful, the duo add to a stacked AEW tag team division.
