A big factor in determining fantasy football production is touchdowns. Ths purpose of this article is to identify which players have the most chances at getting the football close to the end zone, and thus the best chances at scoring a touchdown. Here is Red Zone Report Week 8.

A Red Zone Opportunity is any rushing attempt or target that a player receives within 20 yards of an opponent’s end zone. Special attention will be paid to carries from inside the 5-yard line.

For the remainder of this article, the words Red Zone will be replaced with RZ.

This week, as we are halfway through the 2019 NFL season, we will look at who is leading each team in RZ opportunities, carries from inside the 5-yard line and RZ targets.

Week 8 Bye: BAL, DAL

AFC East

Buffalo Bills

The Bills had limited RZ opportunities in week 8 with only 2 targets, 1 to Cole Beasley and 1 to Devin Singletary. For 2019, Frank Gore has paced the Bills with 11 RZ opportunities and 6 carries from inside the 5. John Brown has the most RZ targets on the season with 4.

Miami Dolphins

Mark Walton saw the only RZ rushing attempt for the Dolphins in week 8. Meanwhile, Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson each received 1 RZ targets. On the season, Kalen Ballage and Preston Williams currently lead the Dolphins in RZ opportunities with 8 each. Ballage has the most runs from inside the 5-yard line with 5, while Williams has the most RZ targets.

New England Patriots

Sony Michel saw 5 RZ carries in week 8, with 1 coming inside the 5-yard line. Julian Edelman saw 5 RZ targets in week 8, while Phillip Dorsett had 3 and James White had 2. For all of 2019, Michel has received 32 RZ opportunities and 12 runs from inside the 5, both of which lead the team. Also, Edelman has the most RZ targets this year at 14.

New York Jets

Ryan Griffin saw the only Jets RZ target in week 8. As for the season, Le’Veon Bell paces the team in RZ opportunities (12), RZ targets (6) and carries from inside the 5-yard line (2).

AFC North

Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Mixon received 2 RZ carries in week 8, with 1 of them coming inside the 5-yard line. Giovani Bernard, meanwhile, only had 1 RZ rushing attempt. Both RBs received 1 RZ target each in week 8, but it was Auden Tate who led the team with 4. Tyler Eifert had 2 RZ targets, while Tyler Boyd, Stanley Morgan and C.J. Uzomah saw 1 each. For 2019, Mixon leads the team in RZ opportunities with 18 and in rushing attempts inside the 5 with 7 attempts. Tate paces the team with 8 RZ targets.

Cleveland Browns

In week 8, Nick Chubb saw the Browns only RZ carries, while Antonio Callaway had the only RZ target. On the season, Chubb leads the way with 22 RZ opportunities and 4 carries from inside the 5-yard line. Jarvis Landry has the most RZ targets with 8 in 2019.

Pittsburgh Steelers

James Conner had half of the Steelers week 8 RZ opportunities with 1 carry and 1 target. Vance McDonald and JuJu Smith-Schuster also received 1 RZ target each. For 2019, Conner leads the team with 17 RZ opportunities and 5 rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line. Smith-Schuster has the most RZ targets with 6.

Houston Texans

In week 8, Carlos Hyde saw 4 RZ rushing attempts while Deshaun Watson had 1. Darren Fells led the way in Texans RZ targets with 3, while DeAndre Hopkins and Duke Johnson received 1 each. So far this season,  Hyde paces the team in RZ opportunities (22) and carries from inside the 5-yard line (5). Meanwhile, Fells and Hopkins have the most RZ targets with 7 each.

Indianapolis Colts

Marlon Mack saw the Colt sonly RZ carry in week 8, while T.Y. Hilton had the only RZ target. Mack leads the team in 2019 RZ opportunities with 18 and in rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line with 3. Meanwhile, Hilton has the most RZ targets with 9.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Leonard Fournette had more than half of the Jaguars week 8 RZ opportunities with 7 carries, including 2 from inside the 5-yard line. Ryquell Armstead saw the only other RZ rushing attempt in week 8. As for RZ targets, D.J. Chark paced the team with 3, while Keelan Cole, Seth DeValve, Josh Oliver and Dede Westbrook saw 1 each. For all of 2019, Fournette has by far the most RZ opportunities among the Jaguars players. 31 RZ opportunities to be precise, and he only has the most runs inside the 5 with 3. Chark leads the team in RZ targets with 10 so far in 2019.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans only passed the football in the RZ during week 8. Adam Humphries led the way with 2 RZ targets, while A.J. Brown, Dion Lewis, MyCole Pruitt, Tajae Sharpe and Jonnu Smith saw 1 each. So far this season, Derrick Henry has the most RZ opportunities (18) and rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line (4). Brown leads the Titans in RZ opportunities in 2019 with 5.

AFC West

Denver Broncos

Royce Freeman saw 4 RZ carries in week 8, while Diontae Spencer had 1. Noah Fant received the team’s only RZ target. In 2019, Phillip Lindsay is leading the way with 19 RZ opportunities and 7 rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line. Courtland Sutton has the most RZ targets on the year with 10.

Kansas City Chiefs

Damien Williams got both of the Chiefs RZ carries in week 8, including 1 inside the 5-yard line. Travis Kelce, had the most RZ targets with 3, while Tyreek Hill, LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins each saw 1. On the season, McCoy has the most RZ opportunities (20) while Darrel Williams leads for runs inside the 5 (6). Kelce paces the Chiefs with 12 RZ targets.

Los Angeles Chargers

Austin Ekeler got the most RZ opportunities in week 8 with 2 runs, including 1 inside the 5-yard line, and 2 targets. Melvin Gordon and Derek Watt each saw 1 RZ carry. As for the rest of the Chargers RZ targets, Mike Williams had 2 while Virgil Green and Hunter Henry each received 1. For 2019, Ekeler has the most RZ opportunities with 20, and the most rushing attempts inside the 5 with 6. Keenan Allen is leading the team in RZ targets with 10 so far this season.

Oakland Raiders

Josh Jacobs saw the Raiders only RZ carry in week 8, while Darren Waller had the only RZ target. On the season, Jacobs leads the team in RZ opportunities (23) and runs inside the 5-yard line (6). Waller is pacing the team in RZ targets with 6.

NFC East

New York Giants

Saquon Barkley received 4 RZ rushing attempts, including 2 from inside the 5-yard line and 2 RZ targets. Other RZ targets to Evan Engram and Darius Slayton with 2 each and Golden Tate with 1. So far in 2019, Barkley has the Giants most RZ opportunities with 13 and is tied with Wayne Gallman with 2 carries inside the 5-yard. Engram has 12 RZ targets, most on the team.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jordan Howard led the Eagles in week 8 RZ carries with 3, including 2 inside the 5-yard line. Boston Scott had the only other rushing attempt inside the 5, his only RZ carry. Miles Sanders and Carson Wentz each saw 1 RZ run. Dallas Goedert received both of the Eagles RZ targets in week 8. On the season, Howard has the most RZ opportunities (20) and carries inside the 5-yard line (9). Zach Ertz is leading the Eagles with 10 RZ targets.

Washington

Adrian Peterson and Wendell Smallwood each had 1 RZ carry, the only difference is that’s Peterson’s was from inside the 5-yard line. Smallwood did see 1 RZ target in week 8, as did Trey Quinn. But it was Terry McLaurin who led the team with 2 RZ targets. In 2019, Peterson is pacing the team in RZ opportunities (12) and carries inside the 5 (5). Meanwhile, McLaurin has seen 8 RZ targets this season.

NFC North

Chicago Bears

David Montgomery saw 5 RZ rushing attempts in week 8, with 3 of those coming inside the 5-yard line. Tarik Cohen also received 2 RZ carries. As for RZ targets, Cordarrelle Patterson, Allen Robinson and Adam Shaheen each had 2, while Trey Burton and Mike Davis got 1 apiece. So far this season, Montgomery leads in the Bears in RZ runs (21) and carries from inside the 5 (10). Meanwhile, Robinson paces the team with 10 RZ targets.

Detroit Lions

Tra Carson had the Lions only RZ carry in week 8, while Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones each saw 1 RZ target. The injured Kerryon Johnson leads the team in RZ opportunities so far this year with 17, including 8 rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line. Golladay and Jones are tied with 10 RZ targets, which is tops on the Lions.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams each received 1 RZ carry, with Williams’ coming inside the 5-yard line. Jones did double up Williams’ RZ targets 2 to 1, however. Other Packers to get a RZ target in week 8 include Geronimo Allison, Jake Kumerow and Allen Lazard. On the season, Jones leads the way with 26 RZ opportunities and 9 rushing attempts inside the 5. Jimmy Graham paces the team in RZ targets with 9.

Minnesota Vikings

Alexander Mattison actually got the team lead in week 8 RZ carries with 6. Dalvin Cook saw 4 himself, including 1 inside the 5-yard line. Meanwhile, Kyle Rudolph was targeted on the Vikings only RZ pass. For 2019, Cook is tops on the team in RZ opportunities (27) and rushing attempts inside the 5 (13), while Rudolph and Adam Thielen share the team lead in RZ targets with 5.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons

Another team that did not run the ball once inside the RZ during week 8. Instead, Austin Hooper led the way with 2 RZ targets while Devonta Freeman, Russell Gage, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley saw 1 each. So far this season, Freeman paces the team with 16 RZ opportunities but it’s Ito Smith who has the most carries inside the 5-yard line with 4. It’s Hooper who holds the team lead in RZ target with 8 to his name.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers were the only team that played in week 8 that did not have any RZ opportunities. On the season, Christian McCaffrey leads the team in total opportunities (23) and carries from inside the 5-yard line (8). Meanwhile, Curtis Samuel has the most RZ targets with 5.

New Orleans Saints

For the second consecutive week, Latavius Murray led the league (in this case tied) in RZ opportunities with 5 runs and 2 targets. Dwayne Washington saw the only other Saints RZ rushing attempt in week 8. As for RZ targets, Michael Thomas had 2 while Dan Arnold, Ted Ginn and Taysom Hill had 1. In 2019, Murray is pacing the team with 21 RZ opportunities, while the injured Alvin Kamara (even after missing a game) still tops in carries inside the 5-yard line with 3. Thomas meanwhile, has 12 RZ targets to lead the team.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Peyton Barber received 3 RZ rushing attempts, including 2 inside the 5-yard line. Dare Ogunbowale had the only other Buccaneers RZ run during week 8 and it came inside the 5. Ogunbowale did beat Barber 2-1 in RZ targets, but it was Mike Evans who paced the team with 3. Chris Godwin and Tanner Hudson also had 1 RZ target each. For the season so far, it’s Barber who paces the Buccaneers in RZ opportunities (14) and carries inside the 5 (5) while Evans is first in RZ targets with 13.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals

Chase Edmonds saw the majority of the Cardinals week 8 RZ opportunities with 2 rushing attempts and 2 targets. Kyler Murray also added a Z carry, while Larry Fitzgerald has the only other RZ target. In 2019, David Johnson has 19 RZ opportunities and 6 runs inside the 5-yard line, both of which lead the team. Meanwhile, Fitzgerald has 9 RZ targets, the most on the Cardinals.

Los Angeles Rams

Todd Gurley led in London with 5 RZ rushing attempts, including 2 from inside the 5-yard line. Robert Woods saw the only other RZ carry, and it also came inside the 5. Gerald Everett, Tyler Higbee and Josh Reynolds each received 1 RZ target in week 8. On the season, Gurley leads the Rams with 28 RZ opportunities, but Malcolm Brown has more runs inside the 5 with 5. Cooper Kupp paces the team in RZ targets with 7 this year.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers were yet another team that did not run the football in the RZ during week 8. Tevin Coleman, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel each got 2 RZ targets, while Matt Breida and Emmanuel Sanders saw 1 apiece. So far in 2019, Coleman has the most RZ opportunities with 19 and is tied for the team lead in rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line, along with Jeff Wilson as both players have 5. Kittle has the most RZ targets on the 49ers with 11.

Seattle Seahawks

Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny each received 1 carry inside the 5-yard line. However, Carson had 5 total RZ carries, while Penny had 2. D.K. Metcalf had 2 RZ targets in week 8 and Tyler Lockett got 1. On the season, Carson has the most Seahawks RZ opportunities with 28, and has the highest amount of rushing attempts inside the 5 at 4. With 11 RZ targets, Lockett paced the team.
