The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.

AEW Dynamite Results:

A huge tag team street fight and the debut of a new tag team were all part of this week’s Dynamite episode. Full results are here:

  • Jon Moxley def. Alex Reynolds
  • Butcher & The Blade def. Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall
  • Big Swole def. Emi Sakura
  • Adam Page & Kenny Omega def. Shawn Spears & Kip Sabian
  • Luchasaurus def. Sammy Guevara
  • Young Bucks def. Proud-N-Powerful in a Street Fight to become #1 Contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championships

AEW Takeaways:

The next AEW pay-per-view has been announced, and it has a ton of time for build. AEW Revolution takes place on the leap day at the end of February 2020. Another two-plus months for build up will give lots of time to set up some epic matchups.

MJF made an AEW Crew Member kiss his ring for laughing at Cody’s promo last week. Turns out, MJF can hit a good Cross Rhodes when he wants too. I’m not sure when Cody will get his hands on MJF, but this has the potential to be the long burn storyline for AEW in the same vein as Miz-Bryan in WWE.

You know what takes any feud to the next level? Kidnapping! Joey Janela is really mad at Shawn Spears, and took it out by taking Spears’ manager Tully Blanchard and tying him up. Sweet shades, Tully.

The street fight that closed the show was exciting and full of great spots. It had high flying, it had comedy, but most importantly it had intensity. These two teams did not like each other, and the level of competition they brought to a number one contenders match makes the Tag Team Championships feel valuable.

NXT Results:

This week’s NXT was a show bookended by two amazing matchups. By the end of the show, we had two singles titles matches booked for next week. The full results are here:

  • Angel Garza def. Lio Rush (c) to win the NXT Cruiserweight Championship
  • Raul Mendoza def. Cameron Grimes
  • Travis Banks def. Jaxson Ryker
  • Dakota Kai def. Mia Yim
  • Breezango def. Singh Brothers
  • Bianca Belair def. Kayden Carter
  • Finn Balor def. Adam Cole and Keith Lee to become #1 Contender for the NXT Championship

NXT Takeaways:

Garza had himself a heck of a night. The match he had with Lio Rush was match of the night, and he won his first championship in WWE. To top it all off, Garza proposed to his girlfriend in the ring on commercial break. She said yes, so it’s all coming up Garza! Congrats to the happy couple.

Dakota Kai may have picked up the win, but Mia Yim dished out the punishment. A great piece of booking that allowed Yim to get revenge, but also allowed Kai to claim a win over her enemy.

Finn Balor winning the main event triple threat is an interesting choice. He has been at odds with Undisputed Era and Adam Cole since returning to Full Sail, but the hot hand seemed to be Keith Lee. WWE seems to want to wait and build Lee even more, and Ciampa’s long quest to regain Goldie could be an epic saga. Balor-Cole happens next week for the title, and it could be the end of Cole’s title reign. Would it really be a shock to the system to have Balor win the NXT Championship once more?

X-Pac: Eric Bischoff & Big Show Should Be Inducted With NWO

This week on his podcast, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman talked about his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hulk Hogan. Waltman thinks two members of the New World Order were left out and should have been inducted too. His full quote is below (h/t Fightful on the transcription):

“I am bummed out that Eric Bischoff is not in on it. I actually feel bad about that…Thinking about just everything from the early NWO days and it’s really making me think again. I’ve talked about how bad I feel about Eric not being in on this but Show was right there with us …definitely those two…I am just thinking about how we felt as a unit behind the scenes and the bond that we all shared. We were together every night, we would do Nitro, go back to the hotel and we’d all get together and we’d watch watch the replay down at the bar and it was great.”

One for the Road:

You show me someone who doesn’t enjoy Breezango, and I’ll show you someone who is wrong. GET ME A DOCTOR!
