As there are only two more games left in the regular NFL season, it seems an appropriate time to look at which teams could make it to the Superbowl. Scheduled to take place on February 2nd, 2020 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, it is all set to be the usual top draw affair. Some teams stand out as real contenders to make it to Miami. Getting an idea of who they are is not only great fun but also makes betting on the playoffs or the Superbowl at the Sugarhouse online sportsbook PA much simpler.
But which teams are being tipped to make a Superbowl appearance and maybe even win the whole thing?
One of the standouts to make the Superbowl this year are the Baltimore Ravens. They are currently the favorites to win the Superbowl with many online sportsbooks – never mind just to make it there. Currently, they sit at the top of AFC North with a stunning 12-2 record to look back on. A 42-21 victory over the Jets in their last game showed what they can do and with a playoff spot already nailed down, the Superbowl is looking likely for this team.
Of course, the star man for them has been QB Lamar Jackson and if they can keep him fit & firing, anything is possible. Their innovative offensive moves and rushing game also continues to cause other NFL sides real problems which certainly bodes well for any Superbowl aspirations. The only fly in the ointment could be a potential playoff match-up with the Patriots.
New England Patriots
Of course, many people’s hot pick for making the Superbowl this year were the Patriots. They started off the season like a rocket and this continued until recently when a few quick losses combined to upset their momentum. The good news for Patriots fans is that they are still top of AFC East with an 11-3 record at the moment. They also clinched a playoff spot in Week 15 with a 34-12 victory over the abject Bengals.

As with the Ravens, it is this team’s QB which is its real heartbeat. Tom Brady is a true NFL legend and has used all his skills and leadership this year to take his team to the playoffs again. Many think that his experience allied with coach Belichick’s tactical acumen can help bring back to back Superbowl titles to New England in 2020. One thing that they will need to address first though is their weak offensive line.
New Orleans Saints
Moving to the other half of the playoff draw, we have the marvelous New Orleans Saints who are at the top spot in NFC South with an 11-3 record as of now. Their great form in 2019/20 to date has also seen them clinch their division and nail down a playoff spot already. This naturally makes them one of the hot favorites to reach and even win the next Superbowl.
Unlike some other NFL sides who can rely on one or two-star players, the Saints are a real team. While QB Drew Brees is obviously important to their success, they also have a mean defense to keep other teams from scoring against them. They have for example held opponents to less than 10 points in more than one game this year! The only worry with the Saints is whether a glut of injuries could derail their Superbowl push.
San Francisco 49ers
Although sitting just behind the Seahawks in NFC West, many have picked the 49ers as one of the teams expected to make it to the Superbowl. Their 11-3 record is certainly impressive, and they have already clinched a wild card entry into the playoff spots for January 2020. They have been playing pretty well all season and a thrilling recent 48-46 win over the Saints will have done their confidence no harm.
The real secret to their success has been their mean defense. Defensive coach Robert Saleh has gone back to basics to make this happen. Playing with a mix of quick defensive backs and an aggressive front 7, the 49ers have really hit other teams hard this year. If they can maintain this during the playoffs and into the Superbowl if they get there, they have a good chance of overall victory. One slight question mark still hangs over their offense though and how good QB Jimmy Garoppolo really is.
Other teams also looking to come into play
While the above four are the teams that most sportsbooks and fans expect to challenge for a Superbowl place, others may upset the apple cart once the playoffs begin. Sides like the Kansas City Chiefs or Seattle Seahawks will also be worth keeping an eye on. Whoever makes it to the Superbowl in 2020 though, it is sure to be a top game.
