In a dramatic turn of events, the Oakland Raiders remain alive for the final AFC playoff spot. With yesterday’s win in Los Angeles, the Silver and Black stay away from elimination for another week. Granted, they will need four separated outcomes, including a win in Denver. Yet, hope spring eternal within the team, management and fanbase, as a whole. After a 24-17 victory, the Raiders bring their record to 7-8.
If you look at Derek Carr’s numbers, the don’t always tell the tale. Yet, averaging over nine yards an attempt signifies that he enjoyed chunk plays. Whether catch and run or looking down the seem for Darren Waller, Carr looked at ease. More importantly, Carr took advantage of wide open space to rumble for a three-yard touchdown. For a fleeting moment, string together by an effective game, Derek Carr looked the part.
With Josh Jacobs on the shelf, DeAndre Washington took the mantle of lead back. As a result, people saw the backup tally 85 hard-earned yards on twenty-three carries. If you look to the future, Washington’s ability to handle a heavy carryload should provide the Raiders the impetus to possibly move on from Jalen Richard.

The Renfrow Show
After suffering injured ribs versus the Jets, Renfrow returned to the fold. With nothing happening on the outside, the rookie took a quick slant from Carr and streak 56 yards for the score. additionally, Renfrow provides Carr with a third down option and safety valve in touch situations.
Paul Guenther’s defense looked passable at times. Now, going forward, versus better teams, that will not get things done. Meanwhile, the unit played well in spot. In fact, the Raiders silenced the Chargers’ run game, allowing only nineteen yards on sixteen carries.
Late in the game, rookie Trayvon Mullen looked to make a tackle. Curtis Riley launched a should into what he thought was the Chargers’ player. However, Riley caught Mullen flush on the face, snapping his head back. Laying motionless, the training staff ushered him off on the cart. As of this writing, Mullen’s status remains unknown.
The Oakland Raiders will play a meaningful post-Christmas game. If the stars align again, the Raiders could find themselves in the playoffs.
