The Miami Dolphins’ 26-year-old cornerback, Xavien Howard, was arrested on domestic battery charges to his fiancée on Sunday.

What caused the arrest

According to authorities, Howard and his fiancée had got into a verbal dispute over the purchase of a purse. Howard was accused of grabbing his fiancée by the arm and pushing her into a mirrored glass wall in the hallway of their bedroom. When he allegedly let go, it caused his fiancée to land on Howard’s medical crutches with her right arm. The police report noted “physical scratches and redness on her right wrist and forearm.”

A report from Andy Slater

Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640 posted a report on his Twitter page about the arrest. It said “Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard is currently in Broward jail with a $3,000 bond”, along with a photo of Howard’s mugshot.

Brian Flores addresses the incident

“I think we’re still gathering information on that (the arrest). We take situations like that very, very seriously. We’re gathering information. It’s unfortunate. How does it impact us? It does impact us. Again, we take these things very seriously,” Miami head coach Brian Flores said. “We’ll gather all of the information and do what we feel is best for the organization. I haven’t even talked to him (Howard). We have a process here. We’ll go through that process. Chris (Grier), myself, Brandon (Shore), Tom (Garfinkel), we’ll talk through this. We’ll have a conversation with ‘X’ (Xavien Howard) and make a decision once we get all of the information.”
