The Wrestling Roundup is here to bring you all the news and rumors you need to know in one place.

WWE Raw Results

It’s the final Raw before the Royal Rumble, and the card for the coolest show of the year seems about set. What would the final show before the Rumble hold? We’ve got some analysis below, but first the match results:

  • Andrade Cien Almas (c) def. Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match to retain the WWE United States Championship
  • Aleister Black def. Local competitor
  • Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton is a double disqualification when The O.C. interferes
  • Becky Lynch def. Kairi Sane
  • Buddy Murphy & Seth Rollins def. Viking Raiders (c) to win the Raw Tag Team Championships
  • Erick Rowan def. Matt Hardy
  • Bobby Lashley & Lana def. Rusev & Liv Morgan

WWE Raw Takeaways

We’ve got some new Raw Tag Team Champions from Seth Rollins’ new stable. Somehow, it isn’t the Authors of Pain. Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins are the new tag champions, surprisingly defeating Erik & Ivar in a good Raw match. It’s interesting that the AOP wouldn’t get the nod as tag champs. How will this wrinkle play into the direction of the stable? Also, Seth Rollins is king of weird tag team champion partnerships: Murphy, Braun Strowman, and Jason Jordan.

The other title match on the show was the first match of the night, and it was incredible. Rey Mysterio and Andrade put on a clinic for the United States Championship. This match was seemingly the blow-off to their feud, and it set up the next challenger. Humberto Carillo saved the legendary Mysterio from a beatdown after the match, and he’ll likely get the next crack at Andrade.

What a waste of Matt Hardy. He jobbed to Erick Rowan quickly on Raw, who currently has a gimmick that many don’t care about. It seems likely that Hardy is gone after his contract expires in March. With Hardy proving to be a consistent reinventor and solid wrestler still, he’ll make money for another company sooner rather than later.

The Lana-Rusev-Lashley-Liv angle is still ongoing, and honestly I have no idea what the endgame is for this. Fans just want a definitive conclusion at this point.
