Shane Wright was granted exceptional status in the OHL to start this year. For those of you who do not know exceptional status is a Hockey Canada rule that allows 15-year-olds to be allowed to play in the CHL.

Only five players have ever been granted exceptional status years including John Tavares, Aaron Ekblad and of course McDavid. Wright who already has 33 goals and 26 assists so far through 49 games which have him at 59 points. McDavid had 66 points in 63 games in his exceptional status season.
