San Jose Sharks defensemen Brenden Dillon has been traded to Washington Capitals, in exchange for a second and third-round pick in 2021. One clause on the agreement is that in the event Washington wins the Stanley Cup, Washington will change its third-round pick in 2021 to Arizona’s third-round pick in 2020 instead.

Another potential Bruins trade target is once again off the board, as Washington managed to capitalize on the very stern asking price set by San Jose over the last week. Dillon through this season has thirteen assists and fourteen points through 59 games, serving as the top defensemen on the market up until this point, proving to be an anchor on the blue line on what was once a very competitive San Jose team.
Boston always seems to be a good fit for defensive depth, but it seems as though Boston at this point has to be honing in on New York Rangers winger Chris Kreider. Sources have told Full Press that they believe the Bruins are the front runners for Chris Kreider, stating “I’d say it’s 70% the Bruins [in the race for Kreider]…” Other teams mentioned were the Colorado Avalanche, the St. Louis Blues, and the Edmonton Oilers, but it’s highly believed around the league that Boston has the edge here to acquire the top trade deadline target of the season. Now, it’s up to Don Sweeney to see whether he bites the bullet or not.
