Athleticism
Jalen Reagor is one of the most dynamic prospects in a loaded WR class. He’s likely to challenge Henry Ruggs III for the fastest 40 time among all participants at the Scouting Combine. Furthermore, his change-of-direction abilities are second to none. Reagor is extremely difficult to bring down in the open field, as evidenced by his success as a punt returner. He has excellent acceleration and explosiveness, both of which make Reagor a threat to score every time he touches the ball.
Hands
He has surprisingly good contested-catch ability for a receiver of his size. Reagor has a knack for high-pointing the ball and has strong hands to complete receptions away from his body. I love that he uses his hands to secure the catch rather than pinning it against his chest, even on deep balls. Reagor is great at tracking the ball over his shoulder, making him a devastating deep threat when combined with his explosive athleticism. He had a few frustrating drops scattered throughout his film, likely stemming from shifting his concentration to run-after-catch opportunities before securing the ball.
Technique
His film showed him winning against defensive backs at every level of the field. Reagor ran a more nuanced route tree than I expected, projecting well to the NFL level. His agility and explosiveness help him win at the line of scrimmage against press coverage. The shortcomings of the TCU offense as a whole limited his chances to showcase his true abilities.
Why Reagor for the Packers?
Reagor’s explosiveness and after-the-catch ability would be a welcome addition to the Packers’ WR group. He would open up the middle of the field by being a true deep threat, but his ability to win at every level makes him far more than a one-trick pony. Reagor was successful as a punt returner in college as well, another area of need for Green Bay. His ability to make contested catches would certainly help out in the red zone as well. Coach LaFleur would surely love to have a dynamic playmaker like Reagor to his back pocket, especially after the Packers struggled to find consistent contributions from a WR opposite Davante Adams.
