The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled center Calvin Thurkauf from the Cleveland Monsters. An injury to Oliver Bjorkstrand in Thursday’s loss to the Flyers made the move necessary. Bjorkstrand was seen after the game on crutches.

Defenseman Gabriel Carlsson returns to the Monsters in a corresponding move. Carlsson did not appear in a game during his recent trip to Columbus and now returns to Cleveland. The 23-year old defenseman has appeared in six games for the Blue Jackets this season.

This is just the latest injury for the Blue Jackets which will make things difficult for them down the stretch. Columbus is again in need of help and are going to the well that exists in Cleveland. The Monsters will now be without Calvin Thurkauf for their weekend road trip against the Syracuse Crunch and the Rochester Americans.

Calvin Thurkauf is yet to appear in an NHL game. Thurkauf has been quite productive in his three seasons in Cleveland. With 25 points this season (9 goals, 16 assists) he has already exceeded his previous career-high from 2017-18 in 28 fewer games. Thurkauf had 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 75 games during his first season with the Monsters.
