Redskins share videos and tweets for the Great Eight

Alexander Ovechkin became just the eight player to reach the 700 career goal mark yesterday afternoon against the New Jersey Devils. It was a complete blast from the right circle off of a pass from Evgeny Kuznetsov. It is not often we get to see individual greatness in D.C. sports. The Washington Redskins recognize what they are witnessing too.

After the game ended, the Redskins twitter account posted a video of Ron Rivera, Adrian Peterson, Jonathan Allen, and Ryan Kerrigan congratulating him on reaching the historic mark.

The Redskins twitter handle also posted a congratulatory photo:

The Capitals are expected to have a tribute video during today’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Redskins invited Ovechkin and the Stanley Cup to FedEx to celebrate the Capitals Stanley Cup title. It will be interesting to see if the Redskins will invite Ovechkin to FedEx Field for a moment of recognition. I am sure the fans hope they will.
