While we all went to sleep on Sunday night on the eve of the NHL Trade Deadline all signs pointed to Chris Kreider being moved ahead of Monday’s 3pm deadline. Monday morning came and J.D and The Rangers brass had decided they were willing to go to the 7th year on Kreider which was always the hold up in getting things done.
Kreider has played his whole career with the Rangers and already has 24 goals this season only 4 off his career high. The versatile winger drew considerable interest from the top dogs in the NHL including last years cup final opponents The Boston Bruins and The St. Louis Blues.
Kreider at 6.5 million a year at 36 years old is a risk but guys like him don’t grow on tree’s. The Rangers did the right thing.
